Super Bowl morning report

LAS VEGAS — It's the morning of Super Bowl LXII (that's 42 for you non-Romans).
The first order of business is to check the current line. The Patriots have been a solid 12-point choice vs. the Giants all over town since two Mondays ago, the day after the conference championship games. With tourists flooding this town — with estimates of up to 300,000 coming here as opposed to 125,000 invading the Phoenix area at the actual site of the game — it has been expected that money would come in late on the Patriots and the over as that's the way the public tends to bet.
On Saturday, we started to see some of that influence with the Wynn and the Palms (two properties that cater an affluent crowd, with the Wynn being more old money and the Palms being young money) being the first to break from the pack by making the Patriots a 12.5-point favorite. At 8:30 a.m. Sunday, the Las Vegas Hilton followed suit by going to 12.5, so it's reasonable to expect that will continue to be the way the line moves though it's not as certain that it'll go to 13.
The total is also moving upward. It was mostly sitting at 54 the past week with some books at 53.5, but now it's definitely going higher with every book in town at 55 as of 10 a.m. Vegas time.
There is much more variance with the money line to win the game outright. The Patriots are anywhere between -425 (Stations, Leroy's and Golden Nugget) and -450 (MGM Mirage properties). For those unfamiliar, that means you have to risk $4.25 for every $1 you want to profit. Conversely, if betting the underdog, you get the price for every $1 wagered. The Giants are between +310 (Leroy's and Golden Nugget) and +380 (Las Vegas Hilton).
The Super Bowl is so powerful that it will be the only sporting event on Sunday night. There are only two NBA and one NHL game and those will all be completed well before kickoff. Some sports books, most notably the Las Vegas Hilton (click the link on the page for the list of props, with the hybrid props near the end), have prop bets using results from earlier events.
If there are major updates throughout the day, I'll be posting them in the ViewFromVegas Forums since it's easier to post there than to create a new blog entry like this one. You can also check the forums for selections from other posters or join the fun and make your own.
    Happy Super Bowl Day, everyone.
